M&R provides web-based solutions with competence in data markup for diverse types of content and file formats. We have more than a decade of experience in executing various projects for our customers around the globe in HTML, SGML, XML and other proprietary markup.
M&R approach to markup is the use of productivity aids to accelerate the process, as also increase the accuracy thereof. These aids are in the form of specialist computer program editors that enable customized markup based on the DTD. We have developed our own tools for conversions and these are constantly upgraded to meet the requirement of the day. Programmatic conversion is achieved by writing conversion scripts in Perl, Omnimark and most recently in Ruby and Python.
M&R has also migrated documents already marked-up using a certain standard to a document marked up in another standard. This reformatting or conversion of markup/ tagging is done again through a combination of specialist specifically developed computer software followed by necessary manual conversion and subsequent quality assurance.
Digitization Solution
Our document conversion process includes: document preparation & analysis, scanning, OCR & image enhancement, indexing, quality control and delivering in desired format. M&R has significant expertise in the handling and digitization of fragile and historic original materials and the capability to provide an archive quality original in addition to multiple client specified resolutions.
The above diagram shows M&R Digitization process which has various level of QA check at each stage. The number of QA pass depends on the complexity of content and also the level of accuracy expected by the client for the final output. M&R has well matured QA process which follows a 4 pass process as shown in the diagram, but for an output which requires a very high level of accuracy; M&R has a 5 pass process in QA. This 5 pass process ensures that the final deliverable is 99.98% bug free.
For the content which is complex and needs a high level of accuracy, the cost of the project goes up marginal due to the increased efforts in QA.
Image Processing
M&R has highly skilled graphic artists and a sophisticated graphics infrastructure. We handle the graphic requirement of a title that includes scanning, disk processing, line-art origination, editing & re-sizing images and Image enhancement and effects for visual merchandising of products.
Image enhancement, which typically includes cropping, despeckle and deskewing is performed prior to Optical Character Recognition (OCR) processing. The results from the enhancement help provide a higher quality "clean" image, which is used during the OCR process to increase accuracy. Image enhancement typically used on photographs can include color correction, contrast, sharpening etc.
We are well versed with the graphic software tools like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand, CorelDraw, Autocad, etc..
Line art Origination
We have rich experience in complex line-arts, maps, chemical artworks and capable of delivering the same with utmost precision and of high quality. Our skilled resources handle color scanning, color correction and color separation.
Creative Line-art

Optical Character Recognition (OCR)
M&R' multi-pass, voting, OCR conversion technology is applied to complete the digitization process. Using a customized OCR process, it is estimated that M&R can increase OCR accuracy and reduce error rates by up to 80% over Standard OCR.
Data Capture & Analysis
M&R has significant experience in processing both structured and unstructured hard copy/scanned forms. While structured forms generally follow a fixed format, unstructured forms such as questionnaires or survey forms do not follow any fixed format. Scanned images are batch processed using a variety of software including OCR, ICR, and OMR.

Metadata & Re-Keying
M&R provides low-cost metadata creation and re-keying. Small-point, cursive, or poor quality second-generation copies that cannot be OCRed accurately may require re-keying. M&R provides accurate, clean text for search and display as well as to create full-text documents, metadata records. Single or double-key services can be combined with customized spell checking, stop words, and special dictionaries. Descriptive information can be captured during digitization to populate metadata fields.
