Current Project: eLearning and Interactive Content Management System
|
M&R engineers are developing an Interactive Content Engine for a leading
publishing firm. The software engine is designed to pump the client’s current
content into 3rd party software such as Blackboard and WebCT. All client's
books are currently being digitized by M&R along with the complete courseware
and student management. |
The following technologies are being used: JAVA, SOAP, XML, J2EE, Tomcat, JSP, and Weblogic. |
Components of the project: |
1. Development of eLearning Software and Interactive Content Management |
The engineers are following a bridge pattern that would allow the application to run on its own server and communicate with an adapter installed on the client system.
The bridge pattern is implemented through the use of a system plug-in, in this case, a Blackboard extension, and an interface to the application, e.g. "Web Services (SOAP)" or "Java Serialized Objects". The embedded pattern will be implemented through the
use of a Blackboard/WebCT extension, and a shared content repository such
as an Oracle database. |
2. Software development based on industry standards |
We are building transform tools using XSLT, VB and JAVA for changing one form XML
to another as per need. For instance we have already transformed content from old
system to Blackboard and other industry standard products. |
3. Content publishing |
We are following IMS standards and publishing QTI
based XML's for every interactive question and assignments in math and chemistry books
published. We have also developed an authoring environment for these individual QTI XML's
using EPIC editor, FOSI, JAVA and XSLT.
|
While developing the project, M&R engineers are supporting and maintaining the current
legacy software, which is the client’s e-learning software. This was also designed based
on model view controller pattern. This software is capable of Classroom management with
features like roll calls, grade books, tutorials, assignment, quizzes, etc. Most of the
math and chemistry books published by the client are using this engine as of now.
The content will be migrating to the new eLearning system. M&R has developed the
migration tool for this. |
